Trian3DBuilder 5.0 – OUT NOW

The Database Generation System Trian3DBuilder will be available in version 5 at September 16, 2013. The new release sets new standards for creating and editing digital landscapes. Due to its novel workflow, Trian3D Builder is fast and intuitive to learn and at the same time the most powerful terrain generation tool on the market.

Software Devlopment Kit (SDK)

Use the SDK to flexibly extend Trian3DBuilder with your own Plugins. The software’s core was rewritten in a modular way to provide the users access to almost any function, and thus supports flexible customization.

  • Write own plugins that have direct control over the terrain generation process.

  • Implement your own export formats.

  • Add new importers/exporters for image, geometry or spatial data.

  • Extend the GUI with your own menu items and dialogs.

  • Add custom vector modifiers to gain even more flexible generation rules.

Roads and Rails

The Roads & Roads Plus Module has become even more powerful. Besides many improvements in the generation process and in the height calculation, the direct import of data from OpenStreetMap and Navteq RDF is now supported.

  • Navteq RDF import with areas, lines and signals/signs.

  • OpenStreetMap import with areas, lines and points

  • Generation of traffic signs

  • New AI line calculation for OpenDRIVE.

  • Automatic detection of drive-ups and forkings

Buildings

The extensive improvements of the procedural building generation are incorporated into the core version of Trian3DBuilder and are therefore for the benefit of each customer. Enrich buildings with detailed facade elements and import buildings or entire cities e.g. from ESRI City Engine.

  • Facade elements for procedural buildings like doors and windows

  • Generation of oriels

  • Creation of generic building interiors based on templates

  • Automatic creation of LODs for seamless addition of details

  • Import of buildings from ESRI CityEngine in KMZ/KML format with automatic georeferencing

Airport

The Airport module was further improved and its functionality can now be utilized comfortably by VBS2 users. Amongst other features Trian3DBuilder v5 is optimizing and placing the runways automatically for VBS2 export.

GUI & Workflow

At first glance the graphical user interface did not undergo fundamental changes, but has been restructured and offers many new features to make your every-day work tasks more convenient and fluent.

  • Parallel terrain export

    • Support of multiple exporters in one project

    • With individual format and generation settings for each exporter format

    • Append arbitrary depended exporters to formats, which write additional intermediate generation data (Shape, text dump, OpenDRIVE etc.)

  • Tree view for raster data

    • For elevation, satellite and landcover data

    • Supports grouping and drag’n’drop functionality

  • Sort vector data flexibly in various structures

    • Support of arbitrary structures (FACC, ECC etc.)

    • Also own structures or refinement of standard structures

    • Automatic vector import and assignment e.g. based on FACC

    • Representation of vector data in structure or priority view

  • Sorted output messages in output window (warning, error, note)

  • Dialog ‘Attribute Search’ for vector data

    • Search all or selected vectors for attributes or by modifier values

    • Display and edit search results in vector tree

  • Context menu on right mouse button click

    • Quick access to regularly used functionalities like selection modes and currently useful tools

Import/Export

  • Direct OSM (OpenStreetMap) import

  • KMZ/KML (Keyhole Markup Language) Import (City Engine standard format)

  • Export of generation intermediate data (e.g. each tree position as point object)

    • Export to vector data (Shape etc.)

    • Text data dump

  • Terrain export to Havok Vision Engine

    • Export to Vision Mesh Format (VMESH)

    • Write prefab files

    • Import and display VMESH and VMODEL files
