New Trian3DBuilder Version 8.1 Available Now!

The latest update to Trian3DBuilder is here, bringing new features, optimizations, and enhanced integration options.

With version 8.1, we’ve introduced major workflow improvements to speed up terrain editing, so you can focus on the creative aspects – and let the automatic generation do the heavy lifting for you! You’ll gain access to the new web installer, allowing you to easily manage downloads of additional content libraries and keep the software up to date.

In this release, we’ve prioritized Unreal Engine integration, adding new control features for materials and Procedural Content Generation (PCG) to maximize the engine’s visual capabilities. CDB support and workflows have also been enhanced.

For our automotive and railway customers, we continue to refine the traffic and transport functionality. The focus is on rail networks, with further enhancements to OpenDRIVE v1.8.

Workflow Improvements:

  • Vector List Search in the vector tree and vector list library: No need to remember IDs—simply use the search function to quickly locate lists by name.
  • Edit Extrude Facade Vectors directly in the texture library: Streamline the process for adding moldings and balconies to facades, making it more intuitive with fewer steps.
  • Attribute Templates Selection in the show/edit vector attribute dialog: View all attributes of a selected vector with just one click.
  • Enhanced Tile Generation Settings with ID display and attribute support.
  • Split Areas Vector Tool: Easily divide large areas into smaller sections for a more organic look—ideal for generating small fields or subdivided surfaces.

Formats & Integrations:

  1. Unreal Engine
  • Splat MapSupport: Directly specify color maps in Trian3DBuider for Procedural Content GenerPCG).
  • New Shader for Surface Tiling: Breaks tiling on large surfaces to enhance realism, with controls for dirt and wetness effects.
  • Dynamic Material Attributes:  Dynamic adjustment of material properties, such as moisture levels, across various material instances.

  • Extended Support for CDB Attributes based on type and layer.
  • Improved Network Layer Export, optimizing LOD structures.
  • Lightmap Generation Support for enhanced visual consistency.

Traffic Network Enhancements:

  1. Rail Support
  • Generate railroad lines and switches, including support for streetcar routes.
  • OpenDRIVE Import/Export compatibility.
  • New Rail Modifiers: RailProfiler, ProfileRailHD, RailSwitch, and RailTransition—no restrictions for a fully functional rail network.
  1. OpenDRIVE Updates
  • Extended support for OpenDRIVE versions 1.6 to 1.8 (import/export).
  • OpenCRG Import/Export support via the new OpenCRG Surface Modifier.

Other Updates:

  • Legacy Project File Cleanup: Removed support for old text-based project files (pre-version 6.0). Convert older projects (6.0–8.0) to the new XML format using previous versions.
  • RenderToTexture & DDS Compression: Now CPU-based by default, with an option to switch to GPU processing in settings.
